People working with multi-media appreciate that desktop drives need to handle large amounts of data. Multi-media software such as from Avid, DigiDesign, Apple/Final Cut Pro, Media100, Pinnacle and other video, film and audio edit applications must often have direct shared access to a drives or volumes. A data hungry multimedia application may run into capacity limitations and there is always the worry about backup. FC-SCAN (Fibre-channel Storage Area Network) solutions are expensive, not in the least because of pricing of FC cables and switches and are complex because two different networks and several different boxes are required. An IP-SAN based solution allowing full project and file level based sharing all from one box on one Ethernet network at the highest bandwidth possible dedicated to film, video and audio would be ideal, affordable and simple: the DynamicDrivePool.
